Special Event Parking
Overview
Special event parking is the arrangement of parking for activities that do not occur on a daily basis. Special parking arrangements will be made when a request is received in writing by noon on the Friday before the event is to occur. Events scheduled after the cut-off on Friday will be subject to a late fee and/or other application. Arrangements can be made for both core and non-core areas. Event parking options for each of these areas is detailed below. Fees are dependent on the combination of services needed for the event. For example, to not ticket a gated lot, an hourly fee is charged because an attendant is required at the gate. If event parking in a non-gated lot, the fee is a flat rate. An internal requisition must be sent to Parking & Transportation Services prior to the event to pay for the services.
Non-Core Area
In non-core areas, special event parking options depend upon the size of the group: For smaller functions (<5 vehicles), departments may request visitor permits for a non-gated lot for no charge For larger functions, parking can be requested in a non-gated lot for a $20.00 flat fee. Vehicles without, permits will not be ticketed in this lot during the event. Parking for larger functions can also be requested in a gated lot. An attendant is required to raise gate to admit event participants. The fee for an attendant is $15.00 per hour during office hours of 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, $20/hr before 7:00 AM and after 4:30 PM.
Due to the activity in various parking lots, parking for special events in the non-core area is limited to the following lots Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the fall/winter/spring school terms: Lot 15D (Across from the Alys Stephens Center) Lot 15F (Behind the ROTC Building, near the Business Building) Lot 151 (Beside the WBHM Building, next to 1-65 on 11 th Street South) Lot 15K (Behind the Old Credit Union Building on 11 th Ave So. & 15th Street) Lot 15N (6th Ave. & l3th Street South) Lot 5A (Beside HUC on 8th Ave. So. & 15th Street)
Parking can be accommodated in other lots on a case-by-case basis for Fridays, summer school quarter and the time between school quarters.
Core Area
All core area lots are limited in space, therefore parking arrangements are restricted to the Tenth Avenue Deck (Deck 10A), Sixth Avenue Deck (Deck 6A), and Eighth Avenue Deck (Deck 8). The department requesting parking for Decks 2, 3 or 4 must provide Transportation Services an example of the pass given to event participants or the validation stamp to be used. Each validation will be collected by the cashier and the department will be billed at the end of the month based on the number of validations. Departments requesting parking in Deck 5 will be charged a flat rate to raise the gate. Parking requests for other core lots will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
